Members of the armed forces receive, on the third Thursday of each month, a 20 percent discount off almost all items with a valid military identification, US. Department of Veterans Affairs-issued card, or verification of service.
The service member discount is a continuation of Shoe Station’s long-standing military outreach effort. In 2017, the independent retailer announced a push to ensure that twenty percent of its workforce is comprised of U.S. military veterans or reserves by 2020.
Shoe Station’s product selection is varied enough for the tastes of any service member and includes men’s, women’s, and athletic shoes.
The promotion, which includes some product exclusions and restrictions, covers purchases that members of the armed forces make for their families.
ALBANY — Shoe Station on Dawson Road will participate in its inaugural United Way Fundraiser on Saturday. The store will donate one dollar to United Way for each pair of shoes, sandals and boots sold. United Way locations in Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia will benefit from the fundraiser.
“We are pleased to sponsor this large fundraising effort for United Way organizations in five states,” Shoe Station President and CEO Brent Barkin said.

“We’re just excited to see what kind of response we get,” Rachael Deininger, the senior level management assistant at Shoe Station, said. “Hopefully, it’s successful and we can continue to do this in the upcoming years.”
