Flowood, MS -- Shoe Station is celebrating the opening of its new, renovated Flowood Commons Center space October 19 in a special way -- by giving back to the community. The 24,000 square foot open-shelf shoe store will be a drop off location for Toys for Tots until December 31, 2018.
Toys for Tots of Central Mississippi will be providing bin delivery. According to the not-for-profit organization's website, "The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted."
"Toys for Tots is an excellent organization that appeals to Shoe Station's consumer base. We anticipate many families in this new location because of the enlarged sections for children, men, and women," Shoe Station President and CEO Brent Barkin stated.
Shoe Station employs more than 500 individuals in the Southeast and is hiring for the new Flowood location. Candidates can apply online at www.shoestation.com.
Shoe Station's Director of Marketing Rachael Deininger said, "Mississippi has been great to our chain since 1988 and this toy drive is a wonderful way to further participate in the community."
Shoe Station is one of the nation's largest independently owned shoe retailers, with 21 open-shelf stores in five states -- Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, and Georgia. The chain also has an e-commerce site, www.shoestation.com, that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.
