The Southeastern chain Shoe Station wants customers in all five states where it has stores to enjoy a tax holiday.

Therefore, the retailer is participating in Louisiana's Annual Sales Tax Holiday Friday, August 3 and Saturday, August 4.In addition to state sales tax, it will also cover local taxes for its customers as an extra treat, or 'lagniappe.' Shoe Station has two locations in Baton Rouge and one in Lafayette.

Shoe Station is having a tax-free promotional event for its Georgia stores July 27-29. The State of Georgia does not sponsor a tax-free holiday, so customers in its Albany, GA and Columbus, GA locations may be pleasantly surprised.

"Taxes add up, and our customers in Louisiana and Georgia can enjoy fashion knowing that we are helping to 'foot' the bill," President and CEO Brent Barkin said. "If you walk into a Shoe Station on designated dates, you get a tax holiday and it's on us."

The limited-time promotion includes accessories such as handbags, wallets, t-shirts, and hats.

"This is an extraordinary opportunity, especially regarding luxury lines that are rarely discounted," Barkin stated.

Brands sold at Shoe Station include: Alegria, Antelope, Ariat, Birkenstock, Brooks, Bull Boxer, Bussola, Chaco, ColeHaan, Hey Dude, Kavu, Nike, OTBT, Over Under, Reiker, Sperry, Taos, Toms, Twisted X, Under Armour, and Vionic.

Shoe Station's promotion is in compliance with tax laws and regulations. The discount customers will receive in Louisiana and Georgia is equal to the tax rates in those states and cities. The limited-time promotion does not apply to online or prior purchases. Shoe Station is one of the nation’s largest independent shoe retailers, with 21 open-shelf shoe stores in Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, and Alabama. For locations and hours, visit
