Our History

Shoe Station is one of the nation’s largest independent shoe retailers, with 20 stores in five states. The latest styles of over sixty famous name brands are sold at Shoe Station’s large, self-service, open-shelf locations. The family-owned chain was founded in 1984 in Mobile, Alabama by Terry S. Barkin. Shoe Station continues its commitment to the Southeast, employing more than 500 individuals in the region. With its website, Shoe Station serves millions of customers nationwide.

Shoe Station provides almost every men’s, women’s, children’s, and athletic shoe imaginable in a wide selection of sizes and widths. And all at competitive prices.

With stores as long as a football field and nearly half as wide, Shoe Station has the space to also offer such accessories as handbags, belts, wallets, socks, and t-shirts.

Shoe Station proudly supports the University of South Alabama, the United Way of Southwest Alabama, and other regional organizations. Charitable donations are granted by our Corporate Headquarters in Mobile, AL.
